This is actually the fourth entry in the About Category but it’s the first time that I’m introducing myself with a little more than a link to my personal weblog.
My name is Richie Yamashiroya and I’m from Hawai’i. I love music, Macs, blogging, the Web, and watching movies. I first came into contact with Chitose’s music when I was in Okinawa during March 2002 for a performance (I’m a student of Okinawan folk and classical music) there. Her song “Wadatsumi no Ki” could be heard on every store’s stereo and her Amami minyou CDs were being displayed at the major music stores.
It wasn’t until a month or so after that I truly became a fan of hers after one of my online friends recommended the single to me. It’s a pretty funny story because the song stuck in my head (after arriving home back in Hawai’i) but I couldn’t place it. The recommendation of the “Wadatsumi no Ki” single and my buying it brought me the song I’ve been wanting to listen to for more than a month!
The original site went up in November/December of 2002 and it was quite close to what I have now with the exception of the current site being in a weblog format.
If you’re interested in my other Web projects please visit my site directory: Richie’s Site Directory. I answer all emails and comments so feel free to contact me anytime.
I just finished reading Chitose’s latest entry in her Chitose Diary (for 2003/7/3). Her title is “I’m Back!!” (original title in Japanese is “Tadaima!!”) because her last entry was more than two months ago on May 2nd (called “It’s May.” [original Japanese title is “5-gatsu desu.”]). Chitose hints at revealing one of the songs she’s working on for the upcoming album “Nomad Soul” but jokingly keeps from discussing it any further. Her latest “My Boom” is musical instruments although she doesn’t elaborate on which instrument(s) she’s interested in. She’s so cute. :)
As I’m still entranced with Chitose’s current single “Sen no Yoru to Sen no Hiru” (as well as the two other songs on the single), I was surprised to hear that she’s already releasing a new single in August. Now just a day after making my announcement about that single, I find that she’ll be releasing her second album “Nomad Soul” in September!
“Nomad Soul” (no cover image yet) will be released on Wednesday, September 3rd, in a special limited edition triple gatefold digipac (ESCL 10001∼2) and sell for ¥ 3,200. Besides the special digipac, the limited edition version will also have a DVD with the music videos for “Kono Machi” and “Sen no Yoru to Sen no Hiru” — the DVD marks her first release on that format. And if that wasn’t all, Sony Music is making “Nomad Soul” their first SACD Hybrid Disc release. The disc will be playable on those hi-fidelity SACD players as well as regular CD players. There’s also a regular version that will sale for ¥ 2,913 (ESCL 10003).
You can pre-order both discs online or at your favorite brick-and-mortar. Below is a list of online stores that have Chitose’s “Nomad Soul” available for pre-order:
Chitose’s single, “Sen no Yoru to Sen no Hiru”, was just released on June 11th, but she already has a new single in the works. “Itsuka Kaze ni naru Hi” (ESCL-2411) will be released on August 13th. It will be a CM song for KDDI’s “Movie” au cellular phone and is produced by Sadayoshi Okamoto (words+music) and Takefumi Haketa (arrangement). “Itsuka Kaze ni naru Hi” will be coupled with “Sanpo no Susume” (words by HUSSY_R and music+arrange by Kou Mamiya) and is Chitose’s 5th single. I’ll post about this single again as soon as an image becomes available.
