>> ‘Fuon’ selected by the WFF in Montreal
Fuuon∼The Crying Wind∼ (2004 Siglo production), a film set in Okinawa, has been selected for this year’s World Film Festival in Montreal (August 26 to September 6). The story and original script is by Akutagawa Award winning novelist Shun Medoruma (Suiteki [Droplets]) and directed by Youichi Higashi. Music is by Takashi Hirayasu and Gypsy Band. (I’ll be crossing my fingers with the hope that this film makes the selection for this year’s HIFF.)posted by Richie at 05:54 PM

I saw Fuuon a few weeks ago while in Naha (just got back). I liked it a great deal. You can read my short description/impressions of it on my blog (URL listed above). It's the "The Crying Wind" entry link that's down toward the bottom of the page.
Posted by: Gerald at July 16, 2004 10:25 PMI hope this film comes to the Toronto International Film Festival. If not, I may postpone my July trip to Montreal and attend the WFF. There have been film festivals almost every week since April, ranging from documentaries, short film, photographers, Jewish films, and now Hispanic and Italian films coming up this month. Movie madness has been very exhausting! The summer should be quiet until the TIFF in September.
